Ride A Gorilla: a guide for parents
A plain account of what your child will do in the game, including the parts you might want to know about before they start.
What the game is
Ride A Gorilla is a game on Roblox, made by OZIM GAMES. Players ride their own gorilla, collect bananas to make it grow, and travel through ten lands with other players, smashing open gates together. Back at the camp, they plant an orchard and look after a team of baby monkeys. It is free to play.
New players get a short guided tutorial: ride, break the first gate, plant a first seed, and meet the monkeys. They are protected from other players until they have opened that first gate.
Fighting
Outside the camp, gorillas can fight each other: punches, SLAMs and dodges. It is cartoon action. There is no blood. A gorilla that is knocked out falls down, then gets back up or returns to camp.
- The camp is a safe zone. Nobody can be hurt there.
- Players are protected for a few seconds after they join.
- A gorilla that is knocked out for good drops some of its bananas for others to pick up.
Thieves and police
From level 10, a player can send a thief monkey, Ali Banana, to take part of another player's harvest. The other player can catch the thief, and police monkeys help them do it. Caught thieves go to jail. This is a game mechanic between players' in-game bananas; nothing real is taken.
Who they play with
Your child plays on servers with other Roblox players. Ride A Gorilla uses Roblox's standard chat, with Roblox's own filtering and the chat settings you choose for your child's account. The game adds no chat of its own.
What can be bought with Robux
The game is free. A few optional items cost Robux, Roblox's virtual currency:
- Revive packs: get straight back up after a knockout. Players also earn free revives.
- Officer Peel: a police monkey. Can also be unlocked with bananas earned in the game.
- Ali Banana: the thief monkey.
Lands, the King of the Jungle gorilla and everything else are earned by playing. Roblox lets you set a monthly spending limit, or block purchases, from Parental Controls in your child's account settings.
Time and rewards
Like many Roblox games, Ride A Gorilla has daily rewards, daily quests and weekend events. The baby monkeys keep harvesting while a player is away, so stepping away doesn't set anyone back.
